Advising of Studies
Preliminary Steps
If you are interested in studying English at the University of Zurich, you may want to attend the Studieninformationstage (an event intended for prospective students). In addition, if you enrol with English as your main subject, you will be invited to the department's Erstsemestrigentag, where you will receive further information on the course of studies and the English Department.
In any case, you should consult the English Department's Wegleitung (an indispensable guide for anyone studying English here in Zurich), available in the subsections for the B.A. and M.A. courses.
For details concerning application (for all degrees), please consult the university's site on Application & Admission. There you can also find information concerning Latinand other language requirements.
Finally, you can find information on courses offered in the current as well as in past semesters in the official Vorlesungsverzeichnis.
How to Proceed
If you are unable to find the information you need with the help of the various sources mentioned above, then you should browse the FAQ section. If you still cannot find the answer you are looking for, you can:
- contact the instructor of the specific course you are interested in.
- attend one of the drop-by consultation hours offered in the last week of the semester break and the first three weeks of the semester (for details, contact the secretary's office).
- for specific queries concerning literature or linguistics, send an email to the respective Oberassistentin.
- contact the advisor of studies.
