For two days an international group of scholars from different disciplines will discuss the transnational networks formed among student/youth movements, and their part in the circulation of socialist ideas between the 1960s and 1990s.
The workshop represents a first attempt to look at how socialism was framed from the grassroots and Global South perspective vis-à-vis the Soviet bloc and, in doing so, it will enhance our understanding of the global ideological aspect of the Cold War dynamics. Special attention will be paid to literary, artistic and cultural manifestations of socialism in Eastern Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.
