Katherine Williams studied Modern Languages at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. She spent one year working as an English Language Assistant in two schools in Lower Austria for the integrated year abroad element of her M.A. degree.
Before coming to Zurich, Katherine Williams worked as a Studienrätin im Hochschuldienst at the Justus Liebig University, Giessen, Germany, where she taught a wide variety of courses in English language skills and British cultural studies. She began teaching in Zurich in 2004 as a Lektorin, and in 2007, took up the position managing the English Department (Geschäftsführung). In 2016, she completed a CAS in Public Management at the ZHAW.
In addition to her work at the English Department, Katherine completed a PhD at the University of St Andrews in the field of German - English translation and theatre reception studies, entitled "Translating Brecht. Five Versions of Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder for the British Stage".
