Master: Before Graduation
Step 1: Check Whether You Fulfill the Program Requirements
The requirements for the Master program in English Literature and/or Linguistics are outlined on the English Department website:
Requirements for the Master Major (90 ECTS)
- PDF Checklist Master Major: Literature & Linguistics (90 ECTS) (PDF, 183 KB)
- PDF Checklist Master Major: Literature only (90 ECTS) (PDF, 178 KB)
- PDF Checklist Master Major: Linguistics only (90 ECTS) (PDF, 191 KB)
Requirements for the Master Minor (30 ECTS)

- PDF Checklist Master Minor: Literature only (30 ECTS) (PDF, 169 KB)
- PDF Checklist Master Minor: Linguistics only (30 ECTS) (PDF, 177 KB)
Note:
- You must fulfill the program requirements of both programs you study (i.e. Major and Minor).
- As you have to make this assessment at the beginning of your final semester, it will necessarily be provisional (i.e. you will have to check whether or not you will fulfill the program requirements of your Master Major as well as your Master Minor if you manage to pass all the remaining required modules).
Step 2: Register to Graduate
In order to be able to graduate, you need to register your intent to do so:
- fall semester: October 15-30
- spring semester: March 15-30
More information on how to register for graduation is available on the website of the UZH Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
What If I Fail a Module That I Would Need in Order to Graduate?
If you had planned to gradute but then fail a module that you would have needed to do so, then you will be deregistered from graduation, and you will have to register again in the semester in which you will complete the missing module(s).
More information is available on the website of the UZH Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
