Announcement: Shakespeare Week 2025
Announcement: Shakespeare Week 2025
July 21-25, 2025, London and Stratford-upon-Avon, UK
This year’s Shakespeare Week will first take us to London, where we will visit the Globe Theatre to see THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, ROUGH MAGIC, and ROMEO AND JULIET and to attend workshops on theatrical practice we well as a guided tour of the playhouse. In Stratford-upon-Avon, we will explore the places where Shakespeare was born and lived with his family and watch a production of THE WINTER'S TALE performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company, rounded off by a conversation with the actors.
The purpose of the excursion is to deepen students’ understanding of Shakespeare’s works by engaging with live performances, exploring the historical context of Elizabethan and Jacobean theatre, and gaining behind-the-scenes insights into modern theatre production. Through visits to iconic venues like the Globe Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, students will have the opportunity to connect their academic study of literature with the real-world experience of performance, interpretation, and theatrical practice.
