Further Stay Abroad Options

Apart from studying abroad at a university, students of English also have the opportunity to go abroad for a shorter period of time (summer schools), take part in a teaching and language assistants program, or work abroad for a semester or two. Furthermore, students who have been abroad without earning any ECTS have the chance to book one of the English Department's Stay Abroad modules. Please consult the following sections for more information on each possibility.
Summer and Winter Schools
Many British and some other universities offer intensive courses covering a whole range of topics during the summer months (sometimes, also in winter).
Please have a look at the Global Student Experience websites for summer schools and winter schools for a list of possible places and information on any stipends.

The annual excursion to Stratford-Upon-Avon and London, organised by the English Department of the University of Zurich has become a tradition over the years. It takes place very two years and is advertised within the department. The next Shakespeare Week will take place in 2027.
