Yeats Summer School Stipend Suspended

Due to COVID-19 and its aftermath, the Yeats Summer School Stipend has had to be put on hold. We hope that the project can be revived in the coming years.

Note: UZH Students who wish to learn more about study abroad in general can visit the Study Abroad section of the UZH English Department website.

Yeats Society Sligo

The Yeats Society in Sligo, Ireland, organises the Yeats International Summer School every year - an opportunity to learn about the famous Nobel-prize winning poet William Butler Yeats (1865-1939), comprising cultural events and excursions in the beautiful county Sligo.

Stipend and Travel Bursary

We are happy to announce that the Yeats Society Sligo offers a place to one student from Switzerland every year (tuition fee of €650.- waived).

To cover expenses for travel and accommodation, the Max Geilinger Stiftung offers a travel bursary of CHF 650.- and the Irish Embassy a bursary for accommodation of CHF 250.-.

The successful candidate will also receive an invitation to the Saint Patrick's Day Reception of the Irish Embassy in Berne.

Past Recipients

The Yeats Summer School Stipend was established in 2018, with the first stipend awarded in 2019. The following is a list of all past recipients:

  • 2020: Sorcha Walsh, Université de Lausanne (stipend postponed to 2021, as the Yeats Summer School was canceled due to COVID-19)
  • 2019: Jonas Nicolas Biedermann, University of Basel
