Seminar Series "Why Feminism?"

The organizers of the four-part seminar series "Why Feminism?" - Pauline Bachmann, Elena Rosauro (postdocs @ RoSe) and María Ordóñez (PhD candidate @ RoSe) - cordially invite advanced students to participate.

"Why Feminism?" seeks to critically engage and discuss current theories and main topics of prevailing feminist claims including practices and experiences in order to make visible different lines of thought and action both within and outside academia.  The overall objective of the seminar series is to promote an intellectual discussion of gender inequities still at work today by bringing together renowned experts, as well as activists, students and researchers. Participants will engage with possible scenarios for changing cultural-historical dynamics with the objective of building a space for debate and imagining new paths in and for feminism.

We aim to promote a general academic debate (but also a focused discussion) about feminism as a concept in re-invention and update of its historical dynamics in a diversified world.

The first session will take place on Thursday, October 25th, from 10 am to 1 pm, in room KOL-G-217. The guests in that session are: Vikki Bell (Goldsmiths), Katrin Meyer (UZH), Yuderkys Espinosa (GLEFAS) and Tania Sordo (UC3M).

Dates of the Four Sessions

Session I: Theories - October 25

Session II: Practices - November 6

Session III: Experiences - November 20

Session IV: Final Discussion - November 27
