Manon Burz-Labrande will discuss both the anonymous publication by female authors and the representation of female protagonists within narratives – ranging from the typical Gothic heroine to cross-dressing characters and women challenging their expected place in society.

This guest lecture is hosted by the English Department and takes place as part of Barbara Straumann’s Bachelor seminar on “Victorian Subjectivities”. Colleagues, students and members of the general public are cordially invited.
