Prerequisites	Students are required to have passed "Language Skills and Culture: Introduction".
Content	This one-semester, weekly course follows on from the module "Language Skills and Culture: Introduction." Students will be offered a choice between a US and UK focussed course, looking at a range of cultural issues and how they are reflected in the mass media. Building on the skills acquired in the LS&C Introduction, the course will also develop and extend the students' critical thinking and academic writing skills. In addition, students will also be introduced to essential tools of media analysis.
Learning outcomes	Students can critically analyse media texts and develop their analysis within the framework of an academic essay. They can present a nuanced and supported interpretation cohesively and in academic English (C1 level).
